• 69 percent recycling, and solar power to boot!
San Francisco continues as a recycling leader, achieving a recycling rate of 69 percent.  And Recycle Central, the sorting facility at Pier 96, now runs in part on solar power, thanks to a new $2.1 million array of solar panels on its roof.

  • Solar power rises above fog city
Don’t let San Francisco’s cool, gray reputation dissuade you from considering solar power. The sun can provide almost all of your electricity needs… even in the Sunset District!

  • And speaking of F.O.G....
In this case, it stands for Fats, Oil and Grease…and that’s just what San Francisco’s diesel fleet will be running on by year’s end.  In fact, we’re ahead of schedule converting our vehicles to run on biodiesel.

  • The sin of emissions
Concerned about greenhouse gasses and the size of your carbon footprint? If you have to drive or have to fly, you can still go carbon neutral by purchasing clean energy offsets.

  • Wonder what's new at SFEnvironment?
We’ve overhauled our website from top to bottom. Check out the new design, and go to the EcofindeRRR to find out how to recycle and reuse a wealth of products.
