• Tap water tipping point?
There’s something about San Francisco’s common sense move to limit bottled water in favor of tap water that’s captured the nation’s attention.  News stories keep popping up in local newspapers, and it’s been featured on national television.  Even the venerable New York Times has opined in praise of stuff that comes out the faucet.

  • Plastic bags still in the news
And then there’s San Francisco’s ban on plastic grocery bags.  It comes into effect November 20 for supermarkets, and next May for drugstores.  If the articles like the one in Salon are any indicator, there’s a national change of mind happening around this issue, too.

  • SF Climate Challenge
San Francisco has made an important U-turn: citywide greenhouse gas emissions have returned close to 1990 levels.  But if we’re going to make our ambitious goal of 20 percent below 1990 levels by 2012, businesses and residents will need to pitch in.
